“We know where we will be in 20 years…
Our weakness will be failing to act on this knowledge”

Canada’s aging population brings with it a never-before-seen rise in age-related blindness. By the age of 65, one in nine Canadians will develop irreversible vision loss. By the age of 75, this ratio jumps to one in four.

Soaring associated medical, rehabilitation, and social costs are of great concern. This landmark two-day conference is committed to understanding the costs of blindness and vision loss in Canada and taking the first steps in developing a strategy to reduce both the financial and social strains.

The symposium will be limited to a select group of leading Canadians and international researchers, health providers, insurers, advocacy groups, and health policy-makers determined to assess the impact of blindness in Canada and the best use of resources.
